On Ash Wednesday, the Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions traditionally launches its annual Concerted Action. This year, the joint initiative of the 32 European Justice and Peace Commissions is entitled ‘Europe and organised crime - tackling the challenge together’. Read the full text here.
From 13 to 15 February 2026, the Secretaries General of the European Justice and Peace Commissions gathered in Turin (Italy) for their annual encounter, hosted at Sermig – Arsenal of Peace. The meeting was held under the theme “For a Europe Free of Organised Crime”, and it included exchanges with experts on addressing this multi- and transnational challenge.
On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, Justice & Peace Europe held its annual Prayer and Breakfast in Brussels. A key moment of the event was the presentation of Pope Leo XIV’s Message for the 59th World Day of Peace, offered by H.E. Mgr. Bernardito Auza, Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union. Maria Hammershoy, Co-President of Justice & Peace Europe, shared a reflection on the role of faith communities and civil society in promoting peace amid ongoing conflicts. The event was hosted by the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE).
